People, people…Let us bow our heads and reflect on this coat creation that we have before us today. By now, you should know that if it’s a statement to be made, HGG is down to make it, fashionably. I’ve always wondered what it would look and feel like to have a curated collection of beautiful coats. As of 12/21, which is my bday, by the way, I wonder no more. Kosmios has come through this season for me with providing classic and statement outerwear that has brought my coat obsession to life. As you know, Houston is hot and humid most of the time, so my dreams of sashaying down the street in opulent outerwear aren’t always in the cards. Happily, this Fall has served us some frigid temps. I literally od’d on buying more than enough coats and jackets this season. With 4 more on my wishlist, after purchasing, I’ll be set with everything that I need.

I’m not going to lie, I felt pretty powerful in this coat. My husband, who’s my most of the time photographer, even said that he loved the coat on me. When hubby likes it, it’s a definite go. Not quite sure if it was the fact that it’s a shade of red and I rock red well or that the coat itself was just doing me some serious style justice. Could’ve been a double hitter, but either way, I felt dang good with this buttery faux leather wrapped around my body. One thing about faux leather that kills me, is that it has the tendency to look too plasticky. Especially when you veer away from the neutral family into bold colors, you have to be really careful with it not coming across as a tailored tarp, lol. No, but seriously, you feel me, right?

Styling this beauty was pretty simple, but definitely impactful. I restyled this high neck, thigh-high, tulip split jumpsuit, that I featured way back when. You can take a look at it by itself here. To make it more season appropriate, I paired it with some textured, polka dot leggings for a little bit of extra character. I kept it simple on the ears with some heavy metal, silver ear candy and finished the look off with these booties that I bought at Ross eons ago that are hard as hell to put on. I love them, but honey I almost shot this outfit with no shoes, lol.

Style Tip of the day

When you’re looking for the perfect faux leather piece, stay away from extra shiny faux leathers. Real leather has a subtle sheen, not a glossy, high shine.
