In my seasonal capsule, I’ve featured quite a few outfits with tons of color, pattern or print. My last look was an effortlessly styled and chic outfit that came with style tips on easy style elevation. Today, we’re giving you a look into what my neutral color palette for my capsule looks like, featuring a brand that’s making major headway in sustainable and ethical fashion.
I’ve mentioned in a couple of my blog posts and captions that my shopping habits had indeed changed. What I didn’t mention is how. One of the ways that I’ve decided to enhance and elevate my wardrobe while simultaneously decreasing the waste that our planet continues to collect from the fast fashion giants, is shopping with more sustainable and ethical brands. What this means in a nutshell, is that brands that hold themselves to this caliber of fashion, introduce more slow fashion practices and take our environment, harsh factory conditions for workers, pollution, and sourcing of quality fibers into account when producing their product.
Everlane was the first brand that I was introduced to when deciding to adopt more of these sustainable shopping habits into my personal wardrobe. Of course, my entire wardrobe isn’t sustainable, but one of my goals in my own guiltless wardrobe is to limit my fast fashion purchases as much as I can and create a beautiful wardrobe that not only speaks to my personal style but plays a major part in the environmental aspects of clothing production and waste. I have a list of new brands that I’ll be shopping with, in addition to thrifting more and getting some pieces custom made. What I love about Everlane is, well…everything! If you’re building a wardrobe from scratch and you’re unsure of where to shop, this is your go-to place to build your wardrobe beautifully! Not only are their price points phenomenally priced for the amazing quality that they offer, but they also have a belief of being “Radically Transparent.” What this means is that they want their customers to know exactly how much their clothing costs to be made. They reveal these prices to you, as well as the materials used, labor and transportation of these items. They then offer their product to you WITHOUT the retail markup that your favorite designer brands all do. They spend months sourcing the best factories globally to not only produce a high-quality product but to build strong personal relationships with the owners and to evaluate important factors like fair wages, working hours and conditions. Every factory that they work with has to have a score of a 90 or above! This look features two of my new FAVORITE pieces in my wardrobe. Seriously! I never thought I would ever love basics as much as I do now, but these pieces have amazingly bridged the gap for so many new looks in my wardrobe. If you’re wondering why you have a hard time piecing together looks, you probably need basics to fill in your outfit gaps! This 100% silk blouse was SUCH a lifesaver the day of my shoot. The day was unfortunately hot and it kept me nice and cool underneath the sweltering sun. Not only that, it is INCREDIBLY soft!! I mean talk about luxe comfort. If you’ve never experienced the hand of silk on your body, Everlane offers an array of different styles and colors at different price points.
This one, in particular, is the Clean Silk Relaxed Shirt. It gives you more of a relaxed, effortlessly styled vibe for casual wear, but can also double as a great anchor piece for building an office look. A white or ivory silk button down was on my Spring buy list because of the versatility that it offers, and this one fit the bill perfectly. It has a little give to it that allows for easy movement, so I decided to adjust the blouse into something that I personally love to do with button downs, which is to wear it off the shoulder. Off the shoulder styles are also one of my capsule focuses, so not only does this top give me multiple styling options as it’s already presented, it allows me to get creative and play with its shape.
These pants…#BOMB! If you haven’t caught on yet, wide legs are bae for me! Wide leg crops are perfect for hotter temperatures and I really wanted some in a great camel or tan shade. Operation “find those pants” has successfully reached its completion, lol. This style is called the Wide Leg Chino. As with the Clean Relaxed Silk Shirt, they can easily double for casual or office wear paired with the right pieces. If you love a good hi waisted pair of pants, you will LOVE these. They’re super comfortable and lightweight which makes them perfect for hotter temps. Most chinos are a bit stiff but these were sooo comfortable and not to mention incredibly flattering and super stylish! They also come in a couple of other colors. I have my eyes on the bone pair next. Definitely a great piece to add to your wardrobe.
I decided to finish my look off with some great statement accessories. I opted for this cowrie shell choker that has been a favorite of mine since I purchased it. Cowrie shells have recently become one of the hottest accessory and jewelry trends, but I’ve been rocking them since 2017 and don’t plan on stopping after the trend has declined #wearwhatyoulike. I topped the look off with a straw hat to bring this spring & summer staple look full circle!

Style Tip of the day
Investing in basics will take your wardrobe a long way. Not only will you get versatility and function by styling them together, you’ll also be able to easily style those “hard to style” pieces by pairing them with your basics. A wardrobe without a strong, structural foundation will surely crumble.
