“Swish, swish”, the styrofoam from my nail shop slippers scraped against the pavement as I headed to my car after a much-needed pedicure. An annoying entry/exit alert to the door of an adjacent business to the nail shop swung open. “ You look too cute! That dress is so pretty on you! Do you mind me asking where you got it from?” an employee of the adjacent business asked. “ Sure!” I replied. “But it’s actually not a dress.” The employee looked at me in disbelief as I begin to briefly explain exactly what my outfit concoction was. Everything isn’t always what it seems and everything you style doesn’t always have to be utilized in the manner in which it’s intended.
So, if it’s not a dress, then what the heck is it? Here’s the tea my friend…unhappy with my previous styling of an outfit that was unposted, I decided to do a quick remix and just pull this skirt, turned dress, higher than my waist to create a fun and flirty pleated dress. I could’ve really just worn it like a little babydoll dress, but I wanted to define my waist in a unique yet simple way without accessories. So, I pulled out a striped button down that I previously styled here, and tied it around my waist to give my outfit definition and shape. The stripes in my top played beautifully with the color blocked stripes in the skirt and created a super easy rendition of mixing prints. Das it, lol! Super simple, no money spent and turning heads!
I decided to keep it simple with my accessories and opted for a pair of white sunglasses that I’ve worn numerous times. You’ll see them a lot this summer so don’t be alarmed, lol. I went for this pair of cutesy red mules with a double bow detail that paired perfectly with the fun and playful feel of the look.
