Every now and then you find that piece that just makes your mouth drop instantly. That piece that you eye across the room and the pace of your walk increases in excitement, as you try to compose yourself from running towards it. You know what I mean, lol? That’s the exact reaction that I had when I laid eyes on this top. Aside from it being just a beautiful piece overall, it has a lot of elements that speak to different aspects of my personal style. I’m quite versatile and when I find pieces that combine multiple style aesthetics that I love, I’m all for it.

I’m not overly feminine, so the touch of pearl detail gives me just enough to feel a bit of femininity. The mandarin collar dates back to the Asian culture and I always appreciate their cuts and drapes of some of their garments:particularly the kimono sleeve. The lantern sleeves are EVERYTHING! I adore most of the elements included on the clothing of the Renaissaince and Victorian era, so the sleeves were a definite selling point. Last but not least, the structure and shape of the body of the top speaks to my classic side. Although I love quite whimsical drapes, I also appreciate straight, structured and clean lines in garments.

I decided to style this top with a pair of pants that featured an interesting drape across the front of my leg. I thought that it played well with the sharp edge of the hem of my top and added a little more interest to the overall look. The top came with a matching belt, however, I always enjoy pairing things with my own belt to give it my own personal touch. This black skinny belt with pearl detailed buckle was my accessory of choice. I kept the pearl detail them going with a pair of pearl studs on the ears and decided on a pair of black pumps to keep the look classic. I finished everything off with a pair of cat eye sunnies and my look was complete.

Style Tip of the day

When shopping for pieces that have different details, focus in on them individually and determine if the piece is really something that you enjoy. You may find that you like the collar of the garment or the drape, but you may not like the fabric or most importantly the fit. When you determine those things, decide whether or not if this is going to be something that will deter you from wearing it later. You don’t want to end up with a piece that gets one wear.
