Jumpsuits have become one of my favorite pieces to wear. It’s such an effortless garment that completely covers the body, giving you a complete outfit in one step. Much like dresses, once you find the perfect one, you’re good to go! It’s pure genius I tell you! The history of the jumpsuit dates back to the 1900’s, and the very first design was created by Florentine Thayat. Throughout history, many designers took a stab at creating a more fashionable rendition of the jumpsuit, appropriate for the current era. We all associate the epitome of this pieces fame, which was heightened in the 70’s & 80’s era of “groovy” colors and free-flowing, psychedelic fashion.
I’d been scouring the city in search of the perfect one that flattered and fit my particular body type, was budget friendly, printed, had that old 70’s vibe, unique or was a bold color. On a trip to It’s Fashion Metro, I noticed their marketing signage in the window. I asked the sales associate if the jumpsuit pictured was available for purchase. Now, I’m very familiar with the way the marketing works with retail. Normally, when the corporate office would send marketing material for us to put up in the store, the items pictured, were usually not available at that time. They would arrive in shipment much later or sometimes our particular store wouldn’t receive it at all. I happened to luck up and score the jumpsuit pictured for $16.99! The jumpsuit was very simple, but the color was what attracted me the most. Paired against my brown skin, I knew I had a winner. It featured an elastic waistband with adjustable tie, which is perfect because my waist is a bit small, jogger style, elastic bottoms, a simple zippered front with gold teeth and my favorite, POCKETS, which makes any outfit better! I decided to pair it with this turquoise beaded necklace which featured cobalt blue, red and bronze beading, similar earrings and two similar vintage style bangles. I finished the look with cobalt blue sandals to play on the colored beads in my necklace. What do you guys think? I love to read your comments and thoughts, so leave them below!
