Stripes are quite interesting to me. They’re simple, classic and understated, but they can also be eye-catching, bold and now obviously “trendy.” It’s almost the perfect oxymoron. Can a simple, classic piece also be eye-catching and trendy?? Well, stripes are definitely showing us how possible it is.
I think stripes are essential in every women’s wardrobe. They’re perfect for the classic sophisticate who loves clean lines and structured pieces, as well as for the eclectic and unique risk taker who loves free-flowing silhouettes and bold pops of color. I believe that when paired correctly, stripes look great with almost anything. I know you’ve seen stripes and floral or stripes and polka dots paired together. I think those two pairings are the most common and most safe for people that want to experiment with mixing prints and are unsure as to where to start. However, the sky is really the limit. With stripes variating in size of stripe and color, you can really play with a plethora of different prints, styles, and colors to create your perfect look.
This t-shirt dress is so perfect for Spring; cool, lightweight material, with a fresh and airy hue. It’s a pretty basic design really. Basic button front with short sleeves and mandarin collar. Kind of boxy and very much over-sized. The details are what gives this piece a slight edge and touch of femininity. The two side splits are the perfect design element to spice up a basic t-shirt dress. What’s really cool about this piece, is that there’s an outside button, that when buttoned, creates this overlay effect of fabric. If you look closely, the front of my dress is pulled together in the center, creating a v shape effect. How cool is that? I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; I’m all about versatility. Having the option to style your pieces multiple ways is a way to maximize your wardrobe.
I completed my look with a pair of nude sandals that featured an over-sized buckle strap, a coordinating backpack purse which hung with layers of fringe and a pair of clear cat eye readers for that school girl charm. You guys know my love for statement necklaces, so the outfit just wouldn’t be complete if I didn’t feature one in my look. I decided upon a long silver bib, with linear chains of coins and beads.
