I wish I was a bomb DIY’r! I actually think I would be pretty good if I put my mind to it and really focused on what it was I wanted to do. I see others that create amazing things and I’m like man I love that, or I can do that, or even, I just thought about that! You would think my affinity for art and all things creative would stem to do so, but I guess I’m just lazy, lol. What does DIY’ing have to do with anything? Well, if you’re like me and have the desire to do something, but want to start off small, this is for you. This is probably one of the easiest things that anyone can do, without spending a dime and recreating an article of clothing in a few minutes. ..Turning an old dress into a long top, because that’s exactly what you see me wearing!
Details?? None extensive or all drawn out. Materials needed: an old dress, scissors, and slightly steady hand. Instructions, cut up the seam on each side until you reach your desired stopping point. I suggest putting the dress on to measure where you want your split to stop, and marking the point with a pen. Price, free and what’s better than that?! You’ve repurposed an old item that you were no longer wearing, possibly too small or you were going to get rid of, created a new look with items that you already own and spared about five minutes of your day. Perfection I tell you!
I decided to keep my outfit really casual and cool, by pairing it with a pair of super ripped denim. I added a little bit of texture and color for a touch of flavor, with this snakeskin clutch and multicolored snakeskin heels. I love how well the pieces coincided together and gave the look a bit of depth. This look can take you to brunch with the girls, quick movie date, casual night out or a day of games or bowling, with your socks handy of course. So, what do you guys think? Leave your comments below and until then…Grab your Garb!
Style Tip of the day
Re-purposing old items in your closet allows you to utilize pieces that you may not have considered wearing again. Look through your bags, bins or piles of un-worn things and get creative. How can you spruce up that old denim skirt, basic pair of heels or everyday cotton dress? Get an idea, decide on a plan and let the good times roll!
